How to remove vocals from a song step by step

1. Choose the cleanest file you have

Start with a file that has not been repeatedly compressed. MP3, WAV, M4A and FLAC are practical choices. If you are testing, keep the file under 50 MB so browser processing stays responsive.

2. Upload the track

Open the homepage upload box and drag your audio file into it. After upload, confirm the filename and file type. Playing the original preview helps catch accidental uploads before you spend time processing.

3. Start vocal removal

Click the processing button and let the browser work. The page shows processing progress as a percentage. Larger files and older devices take longer, especially if WebGPU is not available and the page falls back to WASM.

4. Preview the instrumental result

Do not download immediately. Play the instrumental preview and jump mentally to the loudest chorus or bridge. Listen for vocal leftovers, missing drums or a watery high end. If the preview passes, the full download is usually worth keeping.

5. Download the right format

Choose MP3 when you need a smaller file. Choose WAV when you will edit in Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Logic, Ableton, Audition or another audio tool. WAV is also the safer choice if the instrumental will be exported again later.

If the vocal is still audible

Some songs are simply harder to separate. Heavy reverb, stacked backing vocals and distorted guitars often share space with the lead vocal. Try a higher-quality source file first. If the result is still not clean, use light EQ or choose a different arrangement for performance.
